FAREWELL

by Luis Cuauhtemoc Berriozabal

Suddenly it was night.
I heard a passing train
and a bird was singing.
I felt abandoned. My
life’s plans deserted me.
Uselessly I held on
to my dreams for as long
as I could. I bid farewell
to them not to seem
like a fool. The night was
such a soothing ally.
It made me feel like going
out. From my window
I saw the singing bird and
my grief disappeared.
The sounds of the night
brought me great comfort.
I bid farewell to old dreams.

Beautifully done. There comes a time when the past must be put behind us and we must begin to move forward again. A lovely clear night is the perfect time to say goodbye to those dark memories. Lovely.
